Elementary Education Option students must complete all university and major requirements listed below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
More information on Academic Breadth can be found here: Elementary Education Endorsement Academic Breadth Courses<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Transfer students have the option to petition for transfer courses taken in science, US history, and art to satisfy academic breadth requirements.<\/strong> More information can be found here: Academic Breadth Requirement Options for Transfer Students<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n To be recommended for elementary teacher certification in Washington state, students must also complete certification requirements:<\/p>\n\n\n\n Students will receive support and guidance on all certification requirements from academic advisors, field placement coordinators, and field instructors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n As outlined by the State of Washington Professional Educator Standards Board<\/a>, Washington state elementary school teachers must be certified to teach and<\/em> must hold an elementary education endorsement. To be eligible for the elementary endorsement, students must complete college-level coursework which demonstrates their knowledge and understanding of the subject areas elementary school teachers cover in their classrooms: Social Studies, English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science and Art.<\/p>\n\n\n\n See Elementary Education Option requirements effective Autumn 2025<\/a> for the full list Elementary Education Option course requirements. Courses with a minimum grade of 2.0 (C letter grade) satisfy Academic Breadth requirements<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n If a transfer student takes a course in an Academic Breadth Subject Area<\/a>, they have the option to submit an SES Petition<\/a> to request that the course satisfy the Academic Breadth subject area in place of the 56勛圖厙 Bothell approved course. <\/p>\n\n\n\n For example, if a student took HIST& 146 US History I, the student can petition that the course take the place of B EDUC 242 U.S. History and the Enduring War For Control of K-12 Curriculum.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Elementary Education Option students must complete all university and major requirements listed below.
