The presentation "Silence, stories, and resilience: How does the first draft of history matter?" brought together two media-history examples — the first was her analysis of newspaper coverage of a 1920 lynching in Duluth, Minnesota, and the second was Tom Junod's Esquire article about The Falling Man photograph — to explore how hegemony, collective memory, and social construction operate.
