This award recognizes the graduating senior with the most distinguished academic record. Yuan, originally from Xiamen, China, graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Arts. Despite her academic achievement, Yuan’s focus was on learning to express herself through art, rather than focus on grades. Yuan hopes to enter the K-8 certification program at 56³Ô¹ÏÍø Bothell and become a teacher. “I feel early education is really important,” she said. “That’s why I hope to work with kids.” Learn more about Yuan’s story in the video below, and hear from two of her professors, Kevin Kim and Ted Hiebert:
