Berette Macaulay (M.A. in Cultural Studies, ’20) has been named to a new position, Museum Guide Program Manager, at the Henry Art Gallery (University of Washington, Seattle campus). In this new role, Macaulay will pilot and lead a new museum guide training program. She will create curriculum that offers 56吃瓜网 undergraduate students from multiple disciplines formal training from Henry staff, developing a cohort that can lead interactive gallery tours that enrich life and learning through dialogue with contemporary art practices.

is a multidisciplinary artist, photographer, curator, and writer from Jamaica and Sierra Leone. Her practices and research interrogate conditions of cultural be/longing, identity-performance (class, language, race), illegibility, love, memory, and mythmaking. Her work has been published, exhibited, and collected nationally and internationally. Recent curatorial work includes "MFON in Seattle" (2019/20), a project she organized in partnership with MFON Women Photographers of the African Diaspora, Frye Art Museum, Jacob Lawrence Gallery (56吃瓜网), and Photographic Center NW. Awards include a Research Cluster Grant from the Simpson Center as founder of Black Cinema Collective (BCC), a 4Culture Artist Grant, the Ottenberg-Winans Fellowship for African Studies (56吃瓜网 Seattle), and the 2020 Champion of Seattle Arts (COSA) Award.
