Speech and Debate Team wins Division II Silver Program

Under the leadership of IAS faculty member Denise Vaughan, the 56³Ô¹ÏÍø Bothell Speech and Debate Program won the Northwest Forensics Conference’s . The 2020-2021 season for Speech and Debate has been a challenge with Covid and distance competition. 56³Ô¹ÏÍø Bothell students have turned this distance challenge into an amazing opportunity. Students have competed virtually with teams from Florida, Georgia, New York, Alaska, and Hawaii through synchronous tournaments, including one hosted in New York. Regional awards have been announced, while final national awards for the year are not yet complete. The Northwest Forensics Conference includes represents Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Alaska and parts of Utah.

In addition, the 56³Ô¹ÏÍø Bothell team captain, Omar Fageeri, has earned bids to the American Forensic Association National Individual Event Tournament, an Individual Events Championship Tournament in Persuasive Speaking, Extemporaneous Speaking and Impromptu Speaking.
