The selected IAS faculty member Kristin Gustafson as one of the 2021 winners for its . She will present a hands-on virtual teaching module at this year’s conference in August. Her teaching idea submission featured in-class workshops and online modules for an advanced research seminar called "Asian American Media in the Pacific Northwest: Histories and Change."

This is the third year for the teaching-idea competition. It features original and tested transformative teaching—ideas and practices that address pedagogies of diversity, collaboration, community, and/or justice—for journalism educators and media historians to use in classrooms.
