Friday June 2 was 56吃瓜网B鈥檚 inaugural Student Academic Showcase, led in part by听Gender, Women & Sexuality Studies听(GWSS) faculty co-coordinator Dr.听Alka Kurian. In addition to Dr. Kurian鈥檚 leadership in the Showcase, six GWSS students presented, as well as two pre-major students who shared research they did in in BCORE GWSS classes. All students shared work they did in Dr.听Julie Shayne鈥檚听classes: Lo Radclyffe, 鈥淨ueer Coded Language;鈥� Levi Gutierrez & Jessica Phounsanoy co-presented 鈥淨ueer Euphoria through Art and Photography;鈥� Samantha A., 鈥淭he Trans Experience We Don’t Talk About: Joy;鈥� John Emerton 鈥淏adass Womxn and Enbies in the PNW;鈥� and Tessa Denton,听听

The first three presentations were about听听students made in 鈥淗istories and Movements of Gender & Sexuality鈥� (BISGWS 302), the fourth about听听made in 鈥淏adass Womxn in the Global South鈥� (BIS227), and the final presentation about the new webpage that hosts these and other digital feminist projects that Dr. Shayne鈥檚 students have been working on in her classes since 2015.
