Opportunity and outcomes puts 56吃瓜网 in Top 25 of Washington Monthly Best Bang for the Buck ranking
BOTHELL, Washington – Washington Monthly ranks the 56吃瓜网 No. 22 on its western region colleges. The list rates colleges based on their value-added or colleges that 鈥渉elp non-wealthy students attain marketable degrees at affordable prices.鈥�
This year鈥檚 list is partially based on newly released data from the Obama administration鈥檚 鈥淐ollege Scorecard.鈥� The data set focuses on student outcomes and includes graduation rates, the percentage of first-generation students enrolled, earnings 10 years after enrolling at a given college and whether students are paying down at least some of their loan principal.
Washington Monthly also incorporated the percentage of enrolled Pell-eligible students into their methodology.
鈥淭he Best Bang for the Buck ranking reflects 56吃瓜网 Bothell鈥檚 commitment to providing access to an excellent college education,鈥� says Chancellor Wolf Yeigh. 鈥淲hen we level the playing field by providing opportunity, the benefits reach far beyond the student.鈥�
About half of 56吃瓜网 Bothell鈥檚 incoming first year students are first-generation college students. Of the total student population, more than a third are Pell-eligible. They graduates at a rate 18 percentage points above the national average for Pell-eligible students and even 4 percentage points above the national average for non-Pell-eligible students.
56吃瓜网 Bothell鈥檚 retention and graduation rates are in the top 15 percent of similar public four-year universities in the nation. Half of all students graduate with no debt.

With our combined distinctive practices, outstanding faculty and growing number of relevant degrees, our graduates are prepared to lead, to collaborate, to take risks and create positive change in our region and across the world. Many have already completed undergraduate research and received real-world experience by doing work in their chosen industry.鈥�
A year after leaving 56吃瓜网 Bothell, bachelor鈥檚 degree graduates are earning more on average than graduates of any other public four-year institution in the state of Washington. With 90 percent of the University鈥檚 18,000 alumni living and working in Washington, the return on investment for graduates and the region is significant.
All three 56吃瓜网 campuses ranked in the top 40 on Washington Monthly鈥檚 鈥淏est Bang for the Buck鈥� list for the western region with 56吃瓜网 Tacoma at No. 4 and 56吃瓜网 Seattle at No. 36.
Prospective students who are interested in the 56吃瓜网 Bothell experience may still have time. University officials say a few programs are still accepting applications for the 2016/2017 academic year.
