56³Ô¹ÏÍø veteran Ruth Johnston named vice chancellor for administration and planning at 56³Ô¹ÏÍø
BOTHELL, Washington – A longtime University of Washington administrator has been appointed to the key position of vice chancellor for administration and planning at the 56³Ô¹ÏÍø.
Ruth Johnston moved to 56³Ô¹ÏÍø Bothell on an interim basis in September from the Seattle campus where she was associate vice president and chief of staff, planning and management. She filled in after the departure of Ana Karaman who accepted a position at Webster University in St. Louis.
With the recommendation of a search committee and input from the campus community, Johnston was appointed permanently in December to the position, which is one of three vice chancellors.
Johnston brings experience and passion for the 56³Ô¹ÏÍø.
“I’m excited to be part of a leadership team and administration committed to helping students succeed, make an impact on the region and our community, and be a great place for faculty and staff to work, learn and engage.”
“Ruth will provide leadership in key areas related to administrative, financial, facilities and human resources operations of the campus, in support of the academic mission,” said Chancellor Wolf Yeigh.
Johnston brings 36 years of college administration experience in those areas as well as housing, food services and continuing education. She takes on a broad range of such responsibilities at 56³Ô¹ÏÍø Bothell, including safety and emergency management, contract and risk management, and campus master planning and construction.
