Veteran alumnus on State Department fellowship
Thanks to a timely notice from 56吃瓜网 Bothell, Ryan Dzakovic won a Veterans Innovation Partnership fellowship for a year-long position with the State Department’s Office of Global Partnerships in Washington, D.C. Dzakovic (master’s cultural studies ’15) is an Army reservist who served in Iraq and Uganda.

Salmon in society: biology, history, law
Through field trips in western Washington and projects in the 56吃瓜网 Bothell wetlands, the Salmon and Society course explores salmon from biological, cultural and legal perspectives. Students meet state and tribal resource managers, politicians and riverfront homeowners.

Cantwell at energy cybersecurity symposium
Sen. Maria Cantwell is participating in a symposium on cybersecurity Nov. 17 at the 56吃瓜网 in Discovery Hall. The symposium brings together experts from the government, private sector, utilities, military and academia to discuss defense against cyber-attacks.

Flags, reception mark Veterans Day
With 1,000 American flags on the promenade and a Veterans Day reception at the North Creek Events Center, the 56吃瓜网 honored military veterans. Chancellor Wolf Yeigh also has announced a new veterans center in Founders Hall (56吃瓜网1).

A 56吃瓜网 founding faculty member in the School of Educational Studies, Cherry A. McGee Banks, is retiring at the end of the school year. Banks known internationally for expertise in multicultural education.
