Types of programs
There are several types of programs and exchanges with varying lengths and objectives that are designed to meet the diverse interests of students. Most 56³Ô¹ÏÍø Bothell student choose one of the following options.
Study abroad programs offered at all 56³Ô¹ÏÍø campuses are available to 56³Ô¹ÏÍø Bothell students.
56³Ô¹ÏÍø Faculty-led programs
These programs are led and taught by 56³Ô¹ÏÍø professors, and align seamlessly with the 56³Ô¹ÏÍø’s academic calendar.


Short-Term programs
One- to two-week opportunities that are part of a 56³Ô¹ÏÍø course or a special program.
Early Fall Exploration Seminars
Three- to four-week trips led by 56³Ô¹ÏÍø faculty during the gap period between Summer Term B and Autumn Quarter.
Summer Term A or B
Four- to five-week trips led by 56³Ô¹ÏÍø faculty during Summer Term A or B.
Term-long programs
Summer or quarter long programs, mostly taught in English, led by 56³Ô¹ÏÍø faculty. Dates correspond with 56³Ô¹ÏÍø term dates.
Partner programs
These program options are not organized by the 56³Ô¹ÏÍø and may not sync up ideally with the 56³Ô¹ÏÍø academic calendar, but they are approved for 56³Ô¹ÏÍø students and guarantee 56³Ô¹ÏÍø credits, as well as financial aid eligibility.
Provider programs
Study abroad providers, such as and , foreign language schools abroad, as well as many smaller organizations, offer summer and term-long programs, usually on the semester system, that are open to international students from around the world. .
University exchanges
56³Ô¹ÏÍø students attend regular classes at one of over 70 partner institutions abroad. Instruction is generally in the host country language but some do offer courses in English. Internships
A great option for students who want to integrate academic credit with employment and development of professional skills. Offered in-person or online. Some 56³Ô¹ÏÍø-approved study abroad providers (IE3, , , CET) offer . is a matchmaking website that lists volunteer/ internship opportunities that are more flexible in terms of duration and credits.
