$460,000 scanning microscope for high-level research
56吃瓜网 Bothell researchers won $460,000 from the National Science Foundation for a scanning electron microscope that can see objects as small as one nanometer — a billionth of an inch. A piece of paper is about 100,000 nanometers thick.

The announcement that a third collision of black holes has been detected three billion light years away validates the work of hundreds of scientists, including Joey Shapiro Key, assistant professor of physics at the 56吃瓜网. The discovery was made using a detector located at Hanford in eastern Washington.
