Student Technology Fee Committee
The Student Technology Fee (STF) Committee comprises of current 56³Ô¹ÏÍø Bothell students appointed by the Associated Students of the 56³Ô¹ÏÍø (). Members are responsible for reviewing proposals related to the $42/quarter technology fee that each currently enrolled student pays.
Responsibilities
Some responsibilities of the STF Committee include:
- Understand the STF bylaws and applicable state laws.
- Make decisions about the STF, the Committee, and its bylaws.
- Promote STF and submitting proposals to students.
- Read proposals and come up with questions in advance of hearings.
- Evaluate and vote on proposals from the lens of impact on students.
- Meet weekly on Fridays from 2 to 4 PM in the winter and spring quarters.
- Allocate over $600,000 of STF funding each year. Alter proposals and add restrictions as need be.
Proposals
Proposals can be submitted by any current student, faculty, or staff member of 56³Ô¹ÏÍø Bothell. However, money from the fee is not used to fund items that would otherwise be funded by legislative or administrative funds. Funding for projects are made on a yearly basis.
To be considered proposals must:
- Show that the primary benefit is to students.
- Not be contingent on subsequent years of funding.
- Include a summary of student input, long-term plan for operation, and address issues of student accessibility.
Please Note: The committee does not fund equipment used for classroom instruction, ongoing maintenance and supply costs, salary for full-time or part-time staff/students; or wireless networking outside of the University’s central deployment.
Instructions for submitting proposals:

- All proposals will need email confirmations from for both IT and Facilities showing they have reviewed your proposal and you have address any concerns they have. STFC suggests that proposals be reviewed by Dan Sullivan of Facility Services (2-3777; sullid@uw.edu) and Gonca Eren of IT (geren@uw.edu ) before being submitted. We recommend that you give these departments two weeks to review your proposal before you submit your application. They will then contact you with any concerns they may have that you can then address in your application.
- Get a signed copy of from a Director, Dean, or Vice Chancellor verifying that their organization will take responsibility for the equipment purchased through the proposal.

- Fill out funding application via and attach your budget sheet with letters of support from Dean/Director/ or Vice Chancellor and email reviews from IT and Facilities.

AVAILABLE FUNDS – $3,642,945 (1,821,472 per cycle)
Important Dates
- Final application deadline is 11:59 pm on Thursday April 17th
- Hearing notification by 6:00 pm on April 25th
- Hearings for selected applications between 2:00 pm and 4:00 pm on May 9th and May 16th
- Tentative decisions announced by 6:00 pm on May 30th
- Appeals between 2:00 pm and 4:00 pm on June 13th
