Admissions Policies and Procedures 

The Office of Admissions at the 56³Ô¹ÏÍø is committed to a fair, transparent, and holistic admissions process. On this page, you will find detailed information on key admissions policies and procedures that guide our review and decision-making process. 

Application disclaimer 

All admissions decisions are based on the information provided by the applicant at the time of submission. The University reserves the right to rescind an offer of admission if an applicant is found to have misrepresented or withheld information, or if updated academic performance does not meet the standards of admission. 

Note: All materials submitted as part of the application become the property of the University and will not be returned. 

Failure to disclose 

Honesty and integrity are central to our application process. Applicants are required to disclose all academic transcripts and credits from any college or university they have attended, regardless of performance or relevance to their current application. Failure to disclose all academic records, including intentional omission of transcripts or credits, is considered a violation of the University’s admissions policy and Student Code of Conduct.  

Such actions are viewed as dishonest and grounds for disciplinary action, including denial of credits and potential rescinding of admission. 

Appeal of admission decision 

Applicants who believe their application was not reviewed in accordance with our admissions policies may request an appeal. To request an appeal: 

  • Appeals must be submitted in writing within 15 business days of receiving the admission decision. 
  • Appeals should include new and compelling information not previously submitted. 
  • Appeals are reviewed by an admissions committee. Decisions made after appeal are final.

Defer your admission 

Deadline to defer: First Friday of your admitted quarter. 

Students who are admitted but are unable to attend their intended quarter may request a one-time deferral for one quarter. To be eligible for a deferral: 

Deferral requests are considered on a case-by-case basis. Supporting documentation may be required.ÌýPlease use the email and password you used for your application to submit the request for deferral.

Mandatory reporting

Per Washington state law and University of Washington policy, all admissions evaluators are mandatory reporters of child abuse and neglect. Any statements in written materials that give an evaluator reasonable cause to believe abuse or neglect of someone under the age of 18 may have occurred must be reported to Child Protective Services or the police.

Other important policies 

Residency for tuition purposes 

Residency classification is determined by the Office of the Registrar at the time of admission. Incorrect residency status may affect tuition and eligibility for financial aid. 

Criminal history disclosure

Applicants with a criminal record may be required to submit additional documentation. A prior conviction does not automatically disqualify an applicant.
