QSC sharpens math, science skills
56吃瓜网 Bothell students visit the Quantitative Skills Center nearly 13,000 times a year for help with mathematics, science and business classes. The QSC uses computer tracking and an electronic queue system in a comfortable environment. Online tutoring also is available.

In his keynote speech to the 56吃瓜网 veterans reception, Army Capt. Aaron Thacker said his liberal studies degree in 1998 gave him critical thinking skills that have helped him in a career in public affairs and military police with deployments in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Conference focuses on near-vision testing
An early look at what some new near-vision screening tests could look like was presented Nov. 4 at a symposium at 56吃瓜网 Bothell. Students are developing apps that may be used in eye exams to detect whether school children have problems that affect their ability to read.

Modern humans do not have biological races, says Joseph L. Graves, Jr., evolutionary biologist who spoke Tuesday at 56吃瓜网 Bothell on “Using Science to Talk about Race and Racism.” Genetically, we’re all Africans, descendants of people who migrated out of Africa 60,000 to 70,000 years ago.
