Resilience Through Mindfulness Study

BSN Alum Faces Outbreaks in 2 Cities
While still a student, BSN alum Avery Montes De Oca worked as an emergency room nurse at EvergreenHealth and as a travel nurse in Elmhurst. EvergreenHealth, in Kirkland, WA, is the hospital where many nursing home patients were treated in March for COVID-19. When Elmhurst, in Queens, NY, sent out a call for nurses as the coronavirus began to spike, Montes De Oca answered.

Health Studies alum, Shugla Kakar is featured in the campus news this week. Before graduating, Kakar was the student body president, earned the 2020 56吃瓜网 Chancellor's Medal, was named one of the Husky 100, and led the Muslim Student Association.
