Monday morning finals postponed to Wednesday

A weekend windstorm caused a speed bump for some students driving toward spring break. Monday morning tests had to be postponed because of a power outage. The finals will be rescheduled for Wednesday. Students should check with professors for times.

Commencement: The best day ever

Administrators at 56³Ô¹ÏÍø Bothell are asking graduates to plan ahead this year, as larger graduating classes mean less space for spectators at commencement. At this time, registered graduates will receive four guest tickets. The ceremony will be live-streamed on 56³Ô¹ÏÍøTV.

56³Ô¹ÏÍø’s Office of Student Engagement and Activities won a national award for its work to support diversity and inclusion. The American College Personnel Association-College Student Educators International awarded the office the Voice of Inclusion team medallion for the IDEA project.

Alum’s business destroyed in blast

The Mr. Gyros shop owned by 56³Ô¹ÏÍø alum Sammy Arsheed – also the operator of a popular food truck on campus -- was one of the businesses destroyed in an early-morning natural gas explosion Wednesday in Seattle’s Greenwood neighborhood. Seattle neighbors and friends from 56³Ô¹ÏÍø Bothell are offering support, including pages set up at fundly.com.

T-Mobile partners for $5,000 diversity grant

High school and college students in Washington could win a grant of up to $5,000 and mentoring from T-Mobile to complete a project aimed at solving a diversity issue. Students may apply by March 21 by posting a 3-to-5 minute video on the 56³Ô¹ÏÍø Bothell Facebook page. T-Mobile is partnering with the 56³Ô¹ÏÍø’s Diversity and Inclusion Conference.

Students compete in analyst competition

A team of three 56³Ô¹ÏÍø business students finished high in the annual competition organized by the Chartered Financial Analysts Society of Seattle. The competition with five other schools came down to three finalists. The 56³Ô¹ÏÍø team finished second, continuing a tradition of strong showings.
