The announcement that a third collision of black holes has been detected three billion light years away validates the work of hundreds of scientists, including Joey Shapiro Key, assistant professor of physics at the 56³Ô¹ÏÍø. The discovery was made using a detector located at Hanford in eastern Washington.

Military veterans and their families were honored at a challenge coin and stole ceremony Tuesday in advance of the students’ graduation from the 56³Ô¹ÏÍø. Chancellor Wolf Yeigh gave a coin to each veteran, in the military tradition of carrying custom minted coins, symbolic of unit spirit and pride.

The 56³Ô¹ÏÍø combined debate-style competition with career services to create an innovative event on campus – the mock interview tournament May 19 at the North Creek Events Center.
