Giving voice for Native perspectives

Lisa Fryett worked for more than 18 years at The Boeing Company, eventually becoming a project manager for in-flight entertainment. She left the corporate world in 2016 to complete her degree at the 56³Ô¹ÏÍø where her advocacy for Native viewpoints earned her recognition in the Husky 100.

56³Ô¹ÏÍø Bothell raises pride flag

This year, for the first time, all three University of Washington campuses raised the gay pride flag in honor of Pride Month as a symbolic gesture of acceptance and support for LGBTQIA students, staff, faculty and alumni. The flag was raised on the 56³Ô¹ÏÍø Bothell campus at 10 a.m. on Monday, June 18.

Events enrich the student experience

There are now almost 100 student clubs at the 56³Ô¹ÏÍø, including yoga and drone-building. Other organizations and offices on campus offer students a range of events that have both academic and social benefits.

Bridging the nursing gap for better outcomes

Samantha Girard, a nurse educator for Kaiser Permanente in Washington, said her Master of Nursing degree from the 56³Ô¹ÏÍø in 2010 put her in a position to have an impact on the profession at a time nurses are being pushed hard to advance their education.

Grads all score at Safeco Field commencement

The 56³Ô¹ÏÍø welcomed more than 2,200 new alumni with the Class of 2018’s commencement June 10 at Safeco Field. The total class — 1,954 students receiving their bachelor’s degree and 302 receiving their master’s — is nearly 300 students larger than last year’s class.
